The Bachelor of Arts in Biology has become Saint Louis University-Madrid's 22nd major, an important step for U.S. STEM degrees abroad.

"Offering this degree at SLU-Madrid means that students can pursue their studies in a setting that adheres to U.S. academic standards while experiencing a rich cultural environment," said Program Director Francisco Prieto, Ph.D. "This unique combination allows for a truly global educational experience."

Biology majors at SLU-Madrid will take courses such as Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Principles of Genetics and Cell Structure and Function.

"A biology major offers students a comprehensive understanding of living organisms and their interactions with the environment. Students can expect to gain knowledge in various areas, including cellular biology, genetics, ecology, physiology and evolution," said Prieto.

The 38-credit B.A. program requires a minimum of 10 credits of upper-division elective courses and a laboratory course.

The major joins a growing list of STEM-related undergraduate programs at SLU-Madrid including computer engineering, computer science, data science, environmental studies and mechanical engineering.
